Submissions for HALLAREN LIT MAG:
Open to Military Women: Active Duty, Veteran, Guard, Reserve, Midshipmen, Cadets, Government Civilians & Contractors, Foreign Military Service Members & Veterans, & Military Spouses
For Fiction and Non-Fiction Submissions: 5,000 word max; Flash Fiction (about 750 words) is great, too!
For Poetry: one-two pages max per poem is ideal; no more than four poems, please.
For Photography: up to 5 photos per submission (please include titles of each photo in your submission email)
Writing/photography about the military experience is great; so is writing/photography about non-military experiences. We like genre fiction, too. We want to showcase a range of whatever moves our military women to create!
LGBTQIA+ (We welcome non-binary voices, regardless of gender assigned at birth or during service.) and BIPOC voices are encouraged!
After your piece is accepted, Hallaren Literary Magazine receives first North American Publishing Rights and Archival Rights. Following publication, all rights revert back to you, the author.
We have a small staff very much in the thick of military life. It may take up to three months before you hear from us about your submission! Please email info@hallaren.org if it has been 3 months and you still haven't heard from us.

12 point font, Times New Roman (if your poetry begs for accommodation in this area, that's fine. Just make it readable please.)
